Productivity prediction in aircraft final assembly lines: Comparisons and insights in different productivity ranges

نویسندگان

چکیده

This paper investigates the productivity prediction for aircraft final assembly lines. Various approaches are proposed and performance of each approach is compared discussed. The predictive models established in this can be divided into three groups. first group a simulation model, built by practitioners with extensive insights plant layout, material handling, manufacturing process resource allocation. second consists representative regression models, including linear, polynomial exponential regression. last one based on machine learning, multilayer perception, gradient boost tree random forest. Compared typical light industrial products, product has large number modified types order to meet customers’ personalized requirements. In addition, management lines depends different ranges managers often need verify within given tolerance which not covered previous studies. above, provides comprehensive comparison among modelling approaches. A real line adopted illustrate feasibility approach. advantages limitations terms their efficiency, precision generalization ability presented. aim provide practical guidance choice suitable datasets, as well data processing techniques. conclusion drawn applicable other customer dependent multi-product problems.

Aircraft taxi time prediction: Comparisons and insights

The predicted growth in air transportation and the ambitious goal of the European Commission to have on-time performance of flights within 1 minute makes efficient and predictable ground operations at airports indispensable. Accurately predicting taxi times of arrivals and departures serves as an important key task for runway sequencing, gate assignment and ground movement itself. This research...

Demographics and recent productivity performance: insights from cross-country comparisons

Over the last few decades, countries have experienced quite different patterns of productivity growth. In this paper, we emphasize the role of country level demographics in explaining these differences. In particular, looking over the period 1960–2002, we show that cross-country data support the notion that, starting in the late 1970s, countries went through a period of technological transition...

Multilateral productivity comparisons and homotheticity

In this paper it is shown that a well known procedure (GEKS) of transitivizing a bilateral system of productivity comparisons is implicitly a way of imposing a homothetic structure onto the data. The main implication of this result is that deviations between the bilateral and the multilateral (GEKS) indexes can be interpreted as a measure of local deviation from the homothetic assumption. This ...

Air Transport: International Comparisons of Labour Productivity

This paper compares labour productivity in the airline industry in the UK, the US, Germany and France. 1992 estimates have been produced for the countries as a whole and for individual airlines within these countries. Scheduled and non-scheduled services were considered and revenue weights were used to aggregate freight and passenger services. The UK had a productivity lead over the other count...

International Productivity Comparisons at the Industry Level

As more and more industries experience the globalisation of business activities, measuring productivity performance has become an area of concern for companies and policy makers in Europe, the United States and Japan. This paper provides a non-technical synthesis of the productivity measurement methods used in a series of comparative industry studies. Such studies try to reach beyond standard a...
